Senior African Continental Open, Casablanca, Morocco

John Jayne represented the USA in the Senior African Continental Open in Casablanca, Morooco, on 25/26 January. He placed 5th in the -100 kg weight class. He won his first fight by ippon against a man from Libya and then lost his second to Luca Ardizio (Italy) (Bronze Mdalist at the European Open in Glasgow 2013, 2 x Senior European Cup medalist). 

In the repechage John won his first fight by ippon against Alejandro San Martin (Spain) (5 x Senior European Cup medalist, Silver Medalist in Junior Worlds in 2009), and then lost the Bronze medal match to Vincenze D’Arco (Italy) (2013 Italian Senior National Champion, Gold Medalist at the 2013 European Cup in London). The other 5th place went to Nabil Machtrou (France) (Silver Medalist in the 2013 European Junior Championships, 5th in 2012).
