One member of the Moberly Judo Club entered the 44th USJF Junior National Championships that was held in Ypsilanti, Michigan, USA. John Jayne won all of his matches by ippon. There were three former national champions in his category.

The competition was preceded by a two day camp run by Noriko Narazaki (World Champion and two times Olympic medalist) and Jimmy Pedro (also World Champion and two times Olympic medalist).
