33rd INTERNATIONAL JUDO TOURNAMENT, VENRAY, The Netherlands

Four members of the Moberly Judo Club, Adam Conroy, John Jayne, David Logan and Aaron Turner, participated in the 33rd International Judo Tournament in Venray, The Netherlands, this last weekend. There were over 1,500 participants from 220 judo clubs and national teams from 24 countries. The Club won three medals. RESULTS SUMMARY: BRONZE -34kg (1996/97) John Jayne BRONZE -50kg (1991/92) Adam Conroy BRONZE -66kg (1991/92) David Logan John had 38 boys in his category: 19 Dutch, 4 Russians, 3 English, 3 Belgians, 3 Germans, 2 Estonians, 2 French, 1 Latvian and 1 Swiss. He lost in the semi-final to the eventual gold medalist from The Netherlands by a referee's decision. Adam had 32 boys in his category. He lost in the semi-final to the eventual gold medalist from Croatia. David had 51 boys in his category. He lost in the semi-final to the eventual silver medalist from Germany. Aaron had 22 boys in his category. He lost in the first round to the eventual silver medalist from Norway. He was a yuko up, but then got caught by an arm lock. He was also a score up in the other match that he lost, but then got held down. |
