2006 London Judo International
Moberly Judo Club was celebrating retaining the Tate and Lyle Team Tophy at the London Judo International at the Excel Exhibition Centre in Docklands. The two day event attracts over 1600 competitors from GB and Europe, and the Moberly stars had to fight off stiff competition from the Essex based Jodan and Ford Judo Clubs, London’s Willesden and Enfield, and a very strong Israeli team.

The event is split into 10 categories from under 8 years (group A) to over 45 year old Masters (group M). Moberly’s squad of 28 had to be at their best to repeat the success of last year, as they were only competing in six of the ten categories. Points were being awarded for each medal plus 5th placed competitors, and Moberly’s end total of 9 gold’s 4 silvers and 5 bronzes, and seven 5th places, ensured Moberly retained the best club trophy for a second successive year.
