John Jayne had a bye in the first round and had the former World Champion Luciano Correo from Brazil in the second round. John lost on penalties. There were no scores in the match. Correo went on to win Gold, beating the Mongolian who got Gold in the 2008 Olympics and Silver in the 2012 Olympics in the semi-final by penalties, just as he beat John. Correo won the final by forfeit as his opponent was injured in the semi-final and could not continue to the final.
