Most of the Moberly Judo Club competitors participated in the BJA National Age Band Championships - Age Band B, C and D in Sheffield last week end. As John Jayne is still too young, even for band A, he chose to participate in the Irish Open Judo Championships in Dublin. It was an excellent competition held at the beautiful City West Hotel and Golf Resort just outside of Dublin. John entered in the 12 year old and under age band in the -34 kg weight class. There were several very good boys entered in this class. The final was extremely tense and after scoring a yuko on his opponent the final was settled near the end of the three minutes by the disqualification of his opponent for biting John in the forearm, leaving a welt and teeth marks.
