XXXVIII International Youth Tournament in memory of V. Ya. Petrov under the patronage of V. V. Putin, St Petersburg, Russia

This event was for young men born in 1995-1997 and was proceeded by training from 22 March to 25 March. John Jayne participated at -66 kg, although he weighed in light enough to fight at -60 kg. He lost his first match to Murakami Haruki of Japan by an ippon throw in two minutes and 27 seconds. There were no scores up to that point.

He lost his second match to the current Russian U17 National Champion at -66 kg, who is currently ranked 1st in Europe at -66 kg by the EJU. The only score in the match was a wazari to the Russian boy. The match lasted over seven minutes (counting matte pauses).

John lost his final fight to a boy from Moscow by an ippon throw only a few seconds into the match.
