Six members of the Moberly Judo Club, Brandon Banton, Kyle Clarke-Harewood, Kieran Davin, David Logan, Dominick Mathurin and Liam Rowles, participated in the 36th International Judo Tournament in Venray, The Netherlands, this last weekend. There were 1,764 participants from 304 judo clubs and national teams from 22 countries. The Club won two medals. RESULTS SUMMARY: 7th -38 kg (1996/97) Kieran Davin BRONZE -66kg (1996/97) Brandon Banton BRONZE -73kg (1991/93) David Logan Liam had 71 boys in his category: -46 kg, 1996-1997. He won his first match, lost his second, then won two matches in the repechage before losing again. Kieran had 63 boys in his category: -38 kg, 1996-1997. He got a bye in the first round, and then won his first two matches before losing to the eventual Gold medalist. He won his first match in the repechage and then withdrew with an injury. Kieran got 7th place. Brandon had 22 boys in his category: -66 kg, 1996-1997. He won his first match and lost his second to the eventual Silver medalist. He then won three matches in the repechage to take the Bronze medal. Kyle had 67 boys in his category: -66 kg, 1994-1995. He won his first match and lost his second. He pulled out of the repechage with an injured shoulder. Dominick had 12 boys in his category: -55 kg, 1991-1993. He lost both of his matches. David had 28 boys in his category: -73 kg, 1991-1993. He lost his first match to the eventual Silver medalist, and then won five matches in the repechage to take the Bronze medal. |
