Bulgarian Cadet Championships, Sofia

John Jayne entered the Bulgarian Cadet Championships at the weekend in the -90 kg weight class. There were 18 boys in his draw. He won each of his four matches by ippon inside the first minute.

The new IJF rules were used. There were overall more participants than in the British Cadet Championships and two to three times as many spectators. There was also much more cheering with very load bursts of cheering and applause following ippons. The level of refereeing was high, and the referees dealt with what protests there were with respect and patience.
