RESULT SUMMARY

Boys born in 1996 and 1997

SILVER -38 kg John Jayne

Boys born in 1994 and 1995

SILVER -38 kg John Jayne

On Saturday John won the Silver Medal in the -38 kg category in the 1996-1997 age band. There were thirty seven boys in this category. John lost the final on a referee's decision. There were no scores throughout the match and golden score. In spite of John completely dominating the entire match, the referee (there were no side referees) gave the decision to the boy from St Petersburg.

Two years ago John won the Silver Medal in the 1994-1995 age band at -29 kg and last year he won the Silver Medal in the 1995-1996 age band at -32 kg. This year John moved up two weight classes to -38 kg. He won Gold just six weeks ago at -35 kg in St Petersburg at the XIII International Festival of Children's Judo.

On Sunday John won the Silver Medal in -38 kg category in the 1994-1995 age band. There were twenty four boys in this category. This, along with his Silver two years ago, is John's best result to date in Russia in this age band.

John has now won seven medals in major competitions in Russia over the past two years: two Golds, four Silvers and one Bronze. One Gold and one Silver were in his own age band, one gold and two Silvers were one age band above his, and two Silvers and the Bronze were two age bands above his.

There were over 1,100 participants from 15 countries and over 60 regions of Russia from St Petersburg to Ussuriysk in the Far East.

In Russian John's name is written Джон Джейн.
